Resin #3: new inks!
New inks, new possibilities!
After attempt #1 and #2 we decided we like resin and wanted to try more. Also, we got in some new alcohol inks and some new molds, so we could try some new stuff. And so we did!
New stuff, new possibilities
So for this project we mostly used the same stuff as with the first two projects (click the previous links to see what that is and how resin works). But we also got some new things:
So why the alcohol inks? Previously we used mica powders, which are fun. But these mostly color your resin in one color, which can be transparent or opaque, depending on how much you use. Alcohol inks on the other hand, do something completely different. These kind of flow within the resin, giving it all kinds of fun effects. Logically, we wanted to try that also!
What we made
So we tried some new stuff! In the pictures below you can see what we made. Here's an overview, in order:
- Coaster, made by Ramon. He used clear resin (so no mica powders) and alcohol inks to make a cool effect.
- Teacups, made by Eveline. I tried to make them silver with the alcohol inks. I guess I need to use more ink the next time, since it didn't really work out. Also: they overflowed like crazy!
- Box, made by Eveline. This one is kind of tiny, but perfect for earrings and stuff. I kind of messed around with alcohol inks within the green & black resin I used. It looks a bit weird, but I still kind of like it.
