Soap making: take #2
Eveline made more soaps.
So it's weekend. You have two days off and you don't have any plans. So you make soaps.
At least, that's what Eveline thought on January 16th. She was bored, home and there was still some soap left from the previous weeks. So she made some more!
I used all the same things as the previous week. So if you're curious about what I use and the process of making soap, go check that out!
Making things more difficult
So on the internet I saw you can do some awesome stuff with soaps. You can make layers, make swirls and do embeds. So I wanted to try that. Also, the previous week I was a little conservative about the amount of essential oils used. This week I upped the ante, and that really worked!
So here's the soaps I made (pictures in the gallery below):
- Lavender(above) soaps with lots and lots of layers in appropriate colors. The trick to that is to pour a little layer of soap, wait until it has cooled down a bit, and then pour the next layer. Rinse and repeat!
- Green tea & lemon. The cool thing here is that it's a layer of white soap, a layer of just soap with coffee pigment & lemon oil, a clear layer with yellow flowers and lemon oil, and a layer with actual green tea.
- Rose soaps. So I wanted to do some rose embeds I had from last week, and just make the clear layer a tiny bit pink. Well, that didn't work out. I love the contrast between the pink and black layers, but you can't see the roses anymore. Lesson learned: when it comes to Mica powders, less is more.
- Orange & red. So I just wanted to make a combo soap and see if I could do some swirls. The answer is no, but I do love it. And there's an accidental moon in there!
